Capital Speech Therapy works with children and their families in order to optimize their ability to communicate and enhance everyday roles and routines. Maintaining a functional approach to communication is critical in promoting the carryover of communication skills to the child's everyday environment.
Lauren Baker is the owner and operator of Capital Speech Therapy which provides speech and language services primarily for toddlers, preschool and school aged children.
She attended The College of Saint Rose in New York State where she graduated with her M.S.Ed., in Communication Sciences and Disorders and presented her master's thesis research for the NYSSHLA as well as ASHA.
Lauren has extensive experience working with the pediatric population who are experiencing a wide range of speech and language difficulties and/or developmental disorders, including autism, Down's syndrome, global developmental delay, acquired brain injury, childhood apraxia of speech, voice and fluency.
Lauren promotes a total communication approach in treatment utilizing speech, pictures and sign language, which is highly individualized to effectively meet the needs of her clients. She is passionate about providing the most current and evidence-based treatment methods for her clients and actively participates in continuing education throughout Canada and the USA.
